Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Labor and Delivery to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Labor and Delivery department, including managing staff, ensuring quality patient care, and implementing best practices to improve departmental efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategic plans for the Labor and Delivery department, in line with the overall goals of the organization
- Manage and lead a team of nurses, technicians, and support staff, ensuring effective communication and collaboration
- Monitor and evaluate departmental performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions to enhance efficiency and quality of care
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, including maintaining appropriate staffing levels and adhering to safety protocols
- Develop and maintain relationships with physicians and other healthcare professionals to promote a collaborative and patient-centered approach to care
- Oversee the budget for the Labor and Delivery department, ensuring effective resource allocation and cost management
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices, incorporating them into departmental policies and procedures as appropriate
- Participate in recruitment, hiring, and training of new staff members
- Handle any patient or staff concerns or complaints in a timely and professional manner
- Collaborate with other department directors and hospital leadership to promote a cohesive and efficient healthcare system
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field
- Current and valid state nursing license in North Carolina
- BLS certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in labor and delivery, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role
- Strong knowledge of labor and delivery procedures, protocols, and best practices
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in electronic medical records and other relevant software
- Willingness to work flexible hours and be on-call as needed
