Job Overview:
As a Furnace Process Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of furnaces used in the production of various materials. You will be responsible for ensuring that the furnaces are running efficiently, meeting production targets, and complying with safety and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform continuous analysis identifying areas for improvement and corrective actions.
- Develop enhanced control processes and new operating procedures.
- Defines the process set points for all different product types and creates the associated management tools (e.g. set up sheets in MII, SOP's )
- Actively support improvement of safety performance by encouraging safe behaviors of the team and engaging in the process to improve the JM safety culture
- Create and maintain knowledge of the latest technologies and evaluate them for use in the current process and future processes
- Work closely with internal and external resources to develop new opportunities. Coaches and develops the process engineers in the division. Shares learnings and findings in a proactive way in the broader technical community and participates in the JM COE's technical meetings.
- Work with multiple locations/operations/functions to identify process improvement opportunities in a broader
sense addressing e.g. inventory levels, operating labor needs, etc.
- Provide leadership for process redesign efforts e.g. during rebuilds or major investment projects across the divisions.
- Lead multiple projects and process optimizations in a manufacturing operation, potentially across divisions
- Provide technical guidance during development, construction, and startup to enhance in-plant resource capabilities May be required to perform other related duties as assigned.
- Monitor and optimize furnace operations to ensure efficient and safe production
- Develop and implement process improvement initiatives to increase productivity and reduce costs
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues with furnace operation
- Conduct regular inspections and maintenance to ensure the furnaces are functioning properly
- Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations
- Work closely with other departments to coordinate production schedules and meet customer demands
- Train and mentor furnace operators on proper operation and maintenance procedures
- Keep accurate records of furnace operations, maintenance, and any incidents or accidents
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in furnace technology
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related science with a minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial continuous process manufacturing either as a process or design engineer and 2 years troubleshooting manufacturing processes
- Proven track record of identifying and implementing process improvements - problem-solving
- Demonstrated problem solving skills including complex data analysis
Successful history of innovation and adaptability
- Excellent project management skills
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks
- Proven results orientation including the ability to lead key projects to successful completion
- Experience with complex DOE for process improvement
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Materials Engineering or a related field
- This is similar to a Process Engineer but specifically working on the glass/furnace line.

- Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations related to furnace operations
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

- Proficient in MS Office and other relevant software
