Overview:

A leading automotive manufacturer is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer with extensive CNC machining expertise to support high-volume production operations. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on machining process optimization, CNC programming, troubleshooting, tooling improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives across automotive manufacturing lines.

The ideal candidate is a working engineer who thrives on the production floor, enjoys solving complex machining challenges, and has a strong background in CNC lathes, milling operations, tooling strategies, and process capability improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

Optimize machining processes to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), increase throughput, and reduce scrap.

Develop, modify, validate, and troubleshoot CNC programs for lathes and milling machines.

Lead toolpath development and cutting strategy optimization for automotive components.

Evaluate and implement tooling, inserts, tool holders, and workholding solutions.

Troubleshoot machining issues related to cycle times, dimensional variation, chatter, tool wear, and process instability.

Partner with Quality teams to ensure process capability, Cp/Cpk targets, and first-piece inspections are achieved.

Drive Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives throughout production.

Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and manufacturing standards.

Support production teams through hands-on troubleshooting and shop floor process improvements.

Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering teams to improve manufacturing performance.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent hands-on manufacturing experience.

5+ years of CNC programming and machining experience within automotive manufacturing.

Strong expertise with CNC lathes and milling machines.

Experience with Fuji and Mori Seiki machining centers preferred.

Proficiency with Mastercam or similar CAM software.

Working knowledge of AutoCAD.

Strong understanding of GD&T, blueprint interpretation, and tolerance stack-up analysis.

Experience utilizing CMMs, Zoller tool presetters, and precision measurement systems.

Knowledge of carbide tooling, inserts, cutting tools, and tool holders.

Experience designing and implementing hydraulic and pneumatic fixtures.

Strong understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and capability studies.

Proven hands-on troubleshooting experience within a production machining environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in high-volume automotive manufacturing.

Multi-axis machining experience.

ERP and MES system experience.

Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification.

Experience leading process improvement projects.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Rate: $110/hour
