A rapidly growing AI-powered logistics technology company is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to build and scale the core infrastructure powering mission-critical data systems, AI workflows, and real-time operational platforms.

Responsibilities:

• Design and scale distributed backend systems and services
• Build and optimize data pipelines, messaging systems, and backend infrastructure
• Develop highly available systems with strong reliability and fault tolerance
• Design database schemas, indexing strategies, and performance optimizations
• Build search infrastructure supporting AI-powered product capabilities
• Establish backend engineering standards and architectural best practices
• Collaborate directly with leadership on technical strategy and roadmap planning
• Mentor engineers and contribute to team growth as the organization scales

Requirements:

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience
• Experience in high-growth startup or production-scale environments
• Strong backend architecture and system design skills
• Experience owning projects from design through deployment
• Strong database design and optimization experience
• Ability to work independently in fast-moving environments
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Must be located in or willing to relocate to San Francisco

Preferred:

• Distributed systems experience
• Kafka, RabbitMQ, or SQS experience
• Event-driven architecture experience
• AI/ML infrastructure exposure
• Elasticsearch or vector database experience
• Series A/B startup experience
• Logistics or supply chain software experience

Compensation & Benefits:

• $210,000-$285,000 base salary
