About the job Senior Traffic/ITS Engineer
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and multi-talented Traffic / ITS Engineer to join our engineering team in Delaware. This position requires an individual to be proficient in traffic engineering design, performing traffic studies, analysis, and modeling. The qualified candidate will serve as Project Manager on a variety of multimodal transportation and transit projects primarily located in Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Maryland.
This position may include a variety of opportunities based on the firms needs as well as the candidates interest and background:
Traffic operational analysis for assignments like studies and transportation management plans
Design of ITS devices, signals, pavement markings, and signing
Highway/transportation design and/or experience
Support for innovative ITS planning and program management
This is Non-exempt; full-time; 40 hours per week; (Monday through Friday) position. This position can report to our Wilmington, DE or Dover, DE office locations and offers flexible work from home schedule up to 2 days a week.
Qualifications:
Bachelor or Master of Science in Civil Engineering
Minimum 10 years of relevant traffic engineering experience
Professional Engineer (PE) license in DE, PA and/or MD
Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE)
Experience with DelDOT, PennDOT, and MDOT agencies and standards
Position Responsibilities:
Lead project teams of traffic and transportation engineers
Deliver high-quality products and services within established schedules and budgets
Create and update a complete project plan, including scope, schedule, budget, and resources
Communicate with clients, team members, and external stakeholders
Define new business opportunities and present to Director of Traffic Engineering
Advocate for additional projects, and offer clients solutions
Use traffic engineering software and client systems
Provide quality control reviews
Knowledge / Abilities / Skills:
Experience in project management
Ability to effectively utilize software for word processing, spreadsheets, and publication (Word, PowerPoint, Adobe)
Strong and effective spoken and written (English) communication skills
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, public officials and other government agencies, clients, and consultants
Ability to work independently and balance and prioritize workload
Valid Drivers License and the ability to provide own transportation to meetings and site visits
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is generally performed in an indoor office setting
Working from a job site office may be necessary
Field work would include physical inspection of project sites; walking project sites and/or driving project sites; working outdoors, walking on uneven ground of construction sites; lifting objects of 20 pounds
