About the job Estimator
Qualifications
- Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience with computer-aided drafting, V6 estimating software, and Microsoft Office is important
- Ability to read blueprints is required
- Strong commitment to safety

Responsibilities
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documents to prepare accurate estimates for products, projects, or services
- Review architectural plans and specifications for the scope of work
- Verify performance and structural requirements with the application engineer as needed
- Prepare material take-offs for accurate pricing
- Develop the Scope of Work to accompany customer quotations
- Obtain vendor quotations for external items
- Prepare detailed estimates for bids using cost data and/or price lists
- Compute cost factors for use in planning, organizing, scheduling, bidding, vendor selection, and determining cost efficiency
- Recommend improvements to cost-estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies
