Manager, IT Solutions Delivery

 Job Description:

PURPOSE

  • Become a domain area expert in mobile apps/web application for FWD
  • Manage cross functional stakeholders across our company Countries and Group C-Suite Executives
  • Influence decision making while building the products, apps, and solutions, lead external development, operations, and product teams, and ensure effective project execution across-our company functions in Group and Countries
  • Lead the Agile development process and reach the business goal
  • Engage in project planning, such as budget, human and computing resource allocations
  • Understand the edging technologies and provide a substainable solution
  • Promote team's morale and supervise the team to reach business goals
  • Discuss with users and provide project timeline , milestones and regular update to the senior management
  • Collect and analyze user requirements, conduct impact analysis and implement the system design
  • Deliver quality solution and strive for better way to implement in terms of code efficiency and reusbility
  • Organize and review technical documentations, such as functional specification, technical specification, ER diagram, data flow and network diagram
  • Manage and provide ongoing BAU support for existing systems
  • Implements computer system requirements by defining and analyzing system problems
  • Organize a code review session and decide a set of automated test cases
  • Ensure applications in both desktop and mobile are compatible across different major browsers
  • Provide suggestions on UX/UI design of the systems layout
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy next-generation mobile native apps, clients and services
  • Work closely with product owner and UX/UI designer to build features that delight our customers

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Responsible for managing cross regional IT projects throughout its development life cycle, including resources planning, customers expectation management, change management and risk assessment.
  • Review current technology and drive ways to leverage and improve productivity
  • Lead the technical development team, selecting right technology solutions for building the regional end-to-end sales platform. 
  • Work closely with product manager and project team members for delivering quality projects and services.
  • Manage project execution, communicate project progress and issues to project stakeholders, including analytical reports, presentations and other documentations as necessary throughout the project delivery process.
  • Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.
  • Maintain and measure the quality of project deliverables within defined and agreed project requirements.
  • Deliver the solution using CI/CD pipeline
  • Deliver solutions that will be used across multiple platforms and languages
  • Make data driven decisions
  • Knowledge transfer on product development and architectural design guidance to local development and application teams and provide guidance across teams
  • Organize Agile ceremonies
  • Set up the process and produce timely regular reports to senior managements

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

KPI within 3 years:

  • Work with the Cloud CoE team to achieve 10x faster software delivery
  • Deliver and adopt microservice architecture to increase reusability up to 50%

KPI to enable Polaris strategy:

  • Execute the Polaris strategy to facilitate the digital and cloud-enabled transformations
  • Increase the reusability of source code in the transformation process
  • Improve better service availability for 24 x 7 support

KPI on daily basis:

  • Increase the daily productivity using Agile development life cycle
  • Reduce the lead time for bug fixing
  • Improve 100% test code coverage

Business indicators:

  • Manage to deliver IT projects to align with business growth strategies (As defined in the annual performance review)

Technical indicators:

  • Projects Delivered on Budget: Tracking capacity to stay within budgets
  • IT Support Employees per End Users: Ratio support employees vs end-users
  • Number of trainings or certificates acquired per year
  • Number of project deliverables per year
  • Manage to meet the preset standard per the IT Service Level Agreement (SLA)
  • Enforce IT standard to govern the project execution for FWD

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

  • University degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • At least 7 years experience in IT industry with at least 2 years supervisory/ managerial experience with regional exposure on managing IT programs/projects across different countries
  • Strong insurance knowledge, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Critical thinking and able to drive changes
  • Strong leadership experience. Proven track records in managing regional-based Front-end systems, preferably experiences in implementing IT systems/projects to support Asian countries.
  • Experience with cloud technologies
  • Experience delivering multi-lingual/internationalized solutions
  • Experience leading product development teams

KNOWLEDGE & TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Proficient in Java Spring Boot, Node JS and React JS / React Native
  • Experience in Mobile App (Android and iOS) and Web development/e-Commerce
  • Experiece on NOSQL database and synchronization is a plus (MongoDB, RealmDB)
  • Good knowledge in container deployment, Kubernetes system, API Gateway, Client/Server, MVC , OOP, RDBMS, automated test and Internet/Intranet environment
  • Proficient in Agile development approach
  • Experience on Insurance Sales Tools development (FNA, RPQ, Sales Illustration, eApplicaition) and integration with other frontend systems
  • Experience on Insurance Products
  • Exemplify good interpersonal communication skills at all levels of business users, IT, partners and vendors
  • Good command in both written & spoken English or Cantonese (Mandarin)
  • Broad understanding of the technology industry, including current and emerging digital solutions
  • Deep appreciation of latest and emerging technologies and practice, such as DevOps, Cloud, Microservice and Mobile development
  • Expertise in building secure, scalable RESTFul web services
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and CI/CD
