Description of the position:
We are looking for a quality-focused, detail-oriented Business Analyst with a proven track record of delivering solutions that support high-priority business goals and strategic management decisions. The BA will analyze the activities of a specific business unit or line of business within a major financial institution, providing recommendations on projects, governance structures, business processes, and information architecture. The role demands an integrated view of the business – linking motivations, operations, and strategy through repeatable frameworks and industry-standard techniques. A strong command of Agile delivery, specifically SCRUM, is essential, as the BA will operate within cross-functional Scrum teams on a day-to-day basis.
This is your job:
- Interface with business clients to understand needs and requirements and build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Identify, collect, analyze, document, and coordinate business and functional requirements by working directly with application end-users.
- Build stakeholder consensus – ensure alignment, shared understanding, and a clear visualization of the proposed solution.
- Develop and maintain business cases, requirements specifications, use cases, test plans, test strategies, test cases, and operational procedures.
- Document business processes and workflows; develop and maintain business process models (preferably using BPMN).
- Collaborate with IT professionals to evaluate whether existing solutions meet business needs or whether new solutions are feasible.
- Maintain a comprehensive, chronological trail of requirements and agreements; actively contributes to change control processes.
- Design and execute test cases for application development and implementation projects.
- Support the design, testing, and implementation of applications; contribute to training material development and user training delivery.
- Evaluate new products, technologies, or initiatives and assess the required technology support.
- Analyze gaps between current and desired states and propose recommendations based on industry's best practices.
- Develop, deploy, and maintain business capability models aligned with institutional methodology.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to stakeholders and management using MS PowerPoint, Visio, and similar tools.
- Actively participate in all SCRUM ceremonies — sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. Collaborate closely with the Product Owner on backlog prioritization and story readiness, and with the development team to ensure requirements are clearly understood and acceptance criteria are well-defined.
Your Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or Finance.
- Extensive experience as a Business Analyst in a large financial institution, including defining and implementing technology solutions will be a plus.
- Strong track record in gathering business requirements, developing functional specifications (with emphasis on use cases), defining test cases, and providing user training and support.
- Extensive experience across various SDLC methodologies, with the ability to tailor artifacts accordingly.
- Experience modeling business processes using a variety of tools and techniques (BPMN preferred).
- Experience analyzing business processes, identifying bottlenecks, and driving process re-engineering.
- Experience planning and deploying business and/or IT initiatives.
SCRUM & Agile
- Deep understanding of the SCRUM framework – its principles, roles (Product Owner, Scrum Master, Development Team), artifacts (Product Backlog, Sprint Backlog, Increment), and all ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, Retrospective, Backlog Refinement).
- Demonstrated experience working within Scrum teams as a Business Analyst, contributing to sprint cadence and iterative delivery.
- Ability to translate business requirements into well-structured user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong process analysis skills with the ability to recommend improvements based on industry best practices.
- Knowledge of business analysis standards (e.g., BABOK) and the ability to apply them effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven conceptual, analytical, and judgmental skills.
- Ability to work independently with clients and management, and to facilitate discussions toward clarity, prioritization, and consensus.
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
- Leadership skills and the ability to work with diverse, distributed teams.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- IIBA and/or Product Owner certificates.
- Knowledge of reporting tools (Crystal Reports, Business Objects, Tableau).
- Experience with BPM tools.
- Knowledge of Business Intelligence tools.
