We are seeking an experienced PostgreSQL DBA to manage and optimize our large-scale, cloud-native database environments. The role involves monitoring performance, troubleshooting issues, designing and improving schemas, and collaborating with engineering teams to ensure high availability and scalability.

This is your job:

  • Proactively monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to:
  • Optimize queries and resolve performance bottlenecks.
  • Improve existing schemas and design new ones.
  • Analyze new requirements and work with engineers to deliver the best solutions.
  • Create and maintain change control and testing processes; review and approve database modifications.
  • Review development and deployment processes related to databases and identify areas for improvement (e.g., online schema changes).
  • Continuously improve database expertise and stay aligned with cloud-native and microservices best practices.
  • Work with operations teams to understand and resolve production defects and anomalies.
  • Stay current with advances in database tools, technologies, and methodologies.

Your qualifications:

  • Proven PostgreSQL DBA experience in a 24x7 production environment.
  • 6+ years of database management and engineering experience.
  • Exceptional SQL development and performance tuning skills.
  • Experience architecting large-scale production database platforms.
  • Expertise in Postgres system metrics and optimization strategies.
  • Understanding of virtualization and clustered environments.
  • Strong communication skills and a passion for teaching and learning.
  • Highly motivated, independent, and well-articulated; able to present complex topics simply.
  • Fluent in English.
