We are looking to place multiple Family Support Workers in IIford. 

Enhanced DBS is required for this role. * * * This post is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act , applicants must disclose all criminal convictions including those which are spent, in addition to any cautions and bindover orders received in the last 12 months * * *

The role will need you to : 

  • assist the Families Together Team to deliver outreach and support services to referred families, ensuring an efficient and cost-effective service.

  • Work within the Families Together Team and alongside partner agencies within Children and Families to plan interventions that will improve outcomes for children and young people.

  • Work directly with parents and children to deliver the interventions, offering advice, support and guidance and promoting positive parenting.

We would anticipate that the main visits would be Monday to Friday 9-5 however, we expect some flexibility to work on weekends and from 8am to 10pm when required for families.

However, the hours are 36 hours per week.

Person Specifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years, recent experience of working directly with families with multiple needs with children aged 0-18.
  • Ability to work in partnership with partner agencies, families and communities.
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills with service users, professionals and other colleagues.
  • Ability to keep appropriate records and produce reports.
  • Experience of engaging and maintaining open constructive relationships with service users.
  • Experience of engaging hard to reach families using persistence and creativity.
  • To have an assertive and pro-active approach to partnership working including the ability to identify and overcome barriers.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of, acceptance and commitment to the principles underlying equal opportunities.
  • Demonstrable commitment to safeguarding the welfare and safety of children and young people at all times.
  • Ability to prioritise work under pressure and to be self-motivating.
