Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle bookkeeping for residential and commercial property portfolios in AppFolio and Buildium
  • Perform triple tie-outs of trust accounts, reconciling bank balance, AppFolio/Buildium balance, and owner ledger balances
  • Process rent rolls, owner distributions, CAM reconciliations, and security deposit accounting
  • Handle accounts payable and receivable for property management clients
  • Bring delinquent or backlogged accounts up to date accurately and efficiently (catch-up bookkeeping)
  • Respond to owner and client queries professionally and promptly, maintaining high satisfaction standards
  • Work alongside client teams daily as an embedded accounting partner rather than a back-office function
  • Assist with budget preparation and variance analysis
  • Apply working knowledge of Section 8 (HCV) requirements, including HAP payments, subsidy reconciliations, and compliance considerations
  • Support year-end close and 1099 preparation for contractors and vendors
  • Identify and flag discrepancies in tenant ledgers promptly

Requirements

  • 3+ years of accounting experience supporting US property management clients (prior experience may have been remote or in-office)
  • Hands-on proficiency in AppFolio and Buildium (required)
  • Demonstrated experience with trust account triple tie-outs
  • Working knowledge of Section 8/HCV programs
  • Experience with catch-up/backlog bookkeeping engagements
  • Strong written English for client-facing correspondence
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online is a plus
  • ACCA or CA (partial or complete), or equivalent, is preferred
