Job Openings Relationship Manager — Payments / Banking

About the job Relationship Manager — Payments / Banking

About the role

We're hiring the first Relationship Manager for an early-stage, well-funded payments network working with US chartered banks. You'll own partner bank relationships end to end — from contract signing through onboarding, go-live, and steady-state operations — and build the relationship management playbook from the ground up rather than inherit one. This is a pre-launch environment, so comfort with ambiguity matters as much as experience.

What you'll do

  • Own partner bank relationships from signing through onboarding, go-live, and ongoing operations
  • Act as the senior, named client-facing point of contact for each bank partner
  • Run structured programs for regulated financial institutions, including contractual oversight, commercial management, and change control
  • Manage SLAs, liquidity rules, exception handling, and network rulebook obligations
  • Brief partner banks' leadership teams, not just operational staff
  • Define and stand up the RM function and playbook as the first hire in the role

What you need

  • US-based and able to travel
  • 7+ years in payments, banking, or financial technology infrastructure
  • Significant experience as the named owner of a client relationship — not a support or analyst function
  • Working knowledge of large-value payment systems and network rulebooks (FedNow, RTP, CHIPS, SWIFT, or a payments network / FMU), including SLAs, liquidity rules, and exception handling
  • A track record running structured programs for regulated financial institutions
  • Strong executive communication, comfortable briefing bank leadership
  • Authorized to work in the US; this role does not offer visa sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Exposure to tokenized deposits, stablecoins, shared-ledger payment networks, blockchain, or crypto
  • Experience at an early-stage or pre-launch company, or a clear history of choosing ambiguity over structure

Location

Remote, US-based, with travel to partner banks as needed.
