Our client is looking for someone to lead the HR department and to develop systems / procedures as the business continues to grow. Ideally this person would have some experience within a construction company, although not essential.

We are seeking a positive, approachable and proactive candidate who will play a key role in the business by supporting both the Directors and employees.

This exciting opportunity is based within beautiful, modern offices and is a 100% office based role, with a 7.30am start, working Monday to Friday. With onsite parking facilities and a salary of £35-55K according to experience, if you have passion and experience required, we want to hear from you!

JOB PURPOSE:

The Head of People is responsible for the HR and Training departments. The Head of People is responsible for the effective and efficient running of all People matters to: Ensure the effective flow of resources throughout the business at all times, adhering to the specific needs of each department; Support, advise, develop and train all members of the team on HR matters.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Management of employee relations including dispute resolutions, disciplinaries, grievances, absence, retirement and redundancy. Management of recruitment process including contracts, employee checks, onboarding, inductions and six-week reviews. Support Directors and Line Managers on all recruiting matters. Management of probation reviews and bi-annual performance reviews in line with company timelines to deliver continuous employee development. Management of holiday bookings and sickness reporting. Management of all employee benefits schemes. Management of training for all employees including maintaining and updating training matrix, organising courses, NVQs and CSCS cards. Manage the university sponsorship programme including liaising with universities, implementing training agreements and ensuring fees are paid in line with agreed terms. Management of CITB levy and grant system including completing annual CITB levy submission, making claims under the grant scheme for applicable training and recording payments received. Assisting with payroll requirements including mileage and expenses claims, subsistence claims, recruitment incentives and ensuring any payroll changes are implemented. Provide advice and support to line managers on employee relations issues. Working with the Directors and leadership team to ensure all people related activity is setting us up for continued future success. Ensure the company complies with current regulations, accepted professional standards, policies, procedures and legislation. Communicate company standards and policies to all staff. Ensure all specific requests, complaints and recommendations are dealt with and communicated to Senior Management. Production and maintenance of company CVs. Requesting and confirming employee references. Develop and monitor overall HR strategies, systems, policies and procedures to drive performance and mitigate disputes. Lead and deliver initiatives centred around enhancing the overall employee experience and company brand. Develop and implement employee retention programmes and strategies. Ensure the company corporate image is upheld.

Education and Training/Key Skills/Experience

CIPD qualifications preferred, but not essential. Adequate experience in an HR department. A background in the construction industry preferred. Good IT skills (word, excel, outlook). Driving licence. Good communication skills, both written and oral. Excellent people skills. Good time management and organisation skills.
