Our client is seeking a Payments and Billing Manager to own the billing function for a high growth payments and embedded finance business. This role is focused first on accurate, timely billing for platform, SaaS, transaction, passthrough, absorbed, and interchange-plus fee models across ISV customers and merchants. The position will also work closely with Product and Engineering to improve billing automation, support commercialization of billing capabilities, and strengthen billing accuracy, scalability, and margin visibility.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and own end-to-end fee billing processes, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing of platform, SaaS, and transaction fees to ISV customers and merchants.
  • Manage passthrough billing workflows, including reconciliation of network fees, interchange costs, and processor charges passed through to customers at cost.
  • Oversee absorbed billing models, tracking costs absorbed by company and supporting accurate margin accounting across customer segments.
  • Administer interchange-plus billing programs for ISV customers and merchants, including buy-rate spreads, residual payouts, and account-level net margin modeling.
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering to support billing automation, commercialization, and product updates.
  • Partner with FinOps, Product, and Engineering to improve access to financial and operational data needed for billing accuracy and automation.Build scalable billing models, reporting tools, and processes using Excel.
  • Automate billing and reporting processes while improving data integrity across systems.
  • Support monthly software partner residual reporting.
  • Analyze billing outputs, customer economics, transaction-level economics, and margin drivers to improve visibility and accuracy.
  • Support financial planning, forecasting, management reporting, pricing analysis, and strategic initiatives as the role expands.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience owning billing operations, billing workflows, or financial operations in payments, fintech, SaaS, financial services, or a related environment.
  • Understanding of payments billing models, including fee billing, passthrough billing, absorbed billing, and interchange-plus pricing.
  • Experience with network fees, interchange costs, processor charges, buy-rate spreads, residual payouts, and account-level margin analysis.
  • Ability to build scalable billing models and reporting tools using Excel.
  • Experience improving billing processes, reporting workflows, automation, and data integrity across systems.
  • Ability to partner cross-functionally with Finance, FinOps, Product, Engineering, Operations, Sales, and leadership.
