About the job Banquet Sales Manager
The Banquet Sales Manager is responsible for driving banquet, wedding, and social event sales through proactive outreach, relationship management, and exceptional client service. This includes managing incoming leads, executing a weekly sales action plan, attending community and bridal events, and coordinating all administrative aspects of booked events. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong sales acumen, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver an outstanding guest experience from inquiry through event completion.
Primary Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to all wedding and social event inquiries via phone, email, walk-ins, and online referral platforms.
- Conduct thorough follow-up with clients through calls, emails, and personalized correspondence.
- Achieve and maintain a minimum 50% booking ratio across all assigned leads.
- Maximize revenue opportunities through menu appointments, package enhancements, and up-selling.
- Prepare customized menus, Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), and venue diagrams for all events.
- Ensure all event details and menus are finalized and distributed at least two weeks prior to each event.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef, Operations, and Event Management teams to ensure seamless execution.
- Maintain updated inventory of all wedding and event packages, booking packets, and proposal templates.
- Partner with the Director of Sales and Director of Catering to develop and execute sales strategies that increase market share and revenue.
- Stay informed on market trends, competitive positioning, and local event opportunities.
- Review all client contracts and documentation for accuracy; manage revisions, deposits, and client communications.
- Send introductory, reminder, and post-event thank-you correspondence to all clients.
- Represent the property at bridal shows, tradeshows, community events, and in-house showcases.
- Manage lead lists from all marketing events, and follow up accordingly to secure bookings.
- Develop long-term relationships that enhance repeat and referral business.
Qualifications
- Minimum 23 years of event sales or catering sales experience (hospitality, event venue, or hotel preferred).
- Demonstrated success in achieving and exceeding revenue goals.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to learn new programs quickly.
- Highly organized and capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Professional, polished appearance and demeanor.
- Flexible schedule with availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Compensation
- Base Salary: $65,000 annually
- Commission:
- 2% commission on total booked revenue (average $2 million per Sales Manager, with potential for significant growth)
- 5% commission on any upgrades or enhancements sold beyond the base booking value
This structure allows for substantial earning potential for top-performing sales managers who exceed revenue goals and consistently upsell packages.
