About the job Pipelines Corrosion Engineer

We are seeking a Pipelines Corrosion Engineer to join the Northern Area Corrosion & Inspection Division (NAC&ID), under the Northern Area Technical Support Department (NATSD). NATSD provides engineering support for the Northern Area Oil Operations with specialized engineering and technical knowledge to maximize profitability and meet the highest standards of safety and environment.

Minimum Requirements:

Education:

Bachelors degree in materials, metallurgical, chemical, mechanical, corrosion engineering, or MSc in corrosion engineering.

Certifications:

NACE Pipeline Corrosion Integrity Management (PCIM) Technologist certification, NACE Internal Corrosion Technologist certification, or NACE Senior Internal Corrosion Technologist certification. NACE specialist certifications would be considered advantageous.

Experience:

Minimum of 15 years experience in the oil & gas industry.

At least 5 years experience in pipelines inspection, corrosion, and integrity management including Inline Inspection (ILI) data evaluation and direct assessment examination.

Skills and Knowledge:

Knowledge of internal and external corrosion mechanisms common to upstream oil and gas pipelines and corresponding pipelines corrosion Integrity management.

Knowledge of corrosion mitigation (coating, cathodic protection, chemical inhibition, and material selection, scraping) & corrosion monitoring techniques (coupons, probes, on-stream inspection, in-line inspection, etc.).

Familiar with government regulations and industry codes and standards (NACE, API, ASME, etc.), specifically pipelines integrity.

Working experience of reviewing pipelines inline Inspection data, fitness for service, corrosion mitigation program, and integrity management development.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop Pipelines Corrosion Integrity Management Plans (PCIM) for the operating facilities as per the company and international standards.

Develop, implement, and maintain corrosion mitigation plans for the operating pipelines through chemical treatment (corrosion inhibitors, scale inhibitors, biocides, oxygen scavenger, etc.), coating, CP, and material selection.

Conduct corrosion mitigation and integrity review to optimize the inspection and corrosion programs to maintain the integrity.

Carry out failure investigation and provide recommendations to prevent failures and improve the integrity of the field piping and pipelines.

Develop, maintain, and optimize On-Stream Inspection (OSI) programs for the field piping.

Support facility improvements by reviewing design packages for maintaining potential and new projects and providing comments related to corrosion monitoring, corrosion mitigation plans including but not limited to material selection, installation of Corrosion Monitoring systems (CMS), Chemical Treatments, Corrosion Risk Management, OSI, etc.

Work with inspection during plant shutdown and during turnaround and inspection (T&I) for evaluation of internal and external corrosion issues and coating assessments.

Work with inspection on all corrosion and inspection programs related to field piping and pipelines such as OSI program, dead leg program, IOW, KPIs, etc.
