Job Title: Quantity Surveyor
Job Summary:
The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all aspects of cost control on construction projects, from the initial budgeting stage through to the final accounting. They work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure that all costs are accurately estimated and that the project stays within budget. The Quantity Surveyor is also responsible for ensuring that all work complies with local building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare cost estimates and budgets for construction projects, working closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Review project plans and specifications, identifying potential cost savings and value engineering opportunities.
- Analyze and evaluate contractor and subcontractor bids, ensuring that they are accurate and that all costs are accounted for.
- Manage change orders and variations to the project scope, ensuring that they are properly documented and that costs are accurately tracked.
- Monitor project progress and costs, comparing actual costs to budget and identifying any discrepancies.
- Prepare financial reports and forecasts, providing regular updates to the project team and other stakeholders.
- Manage the payment process for contractors and subcontractors, ensuring that all invoices are accurate and that payments are made on time.
- Ensure that all work complies with local building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Identify and resolve any issues that arise during the construction process, and make changes to plans as necessary.
- Provide guidance and support to the project team, including architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors, to ensure that they are working to the best of their abilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, construction management, engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in quantity surveying or a related field, with a proven track record of successful project management.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, building codes, and safety regulations.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in construction project management software and other relevant tools.
