Job Title: Quantity Surveyor

Job Summary:

The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing the costs and budgets of construction projects, from the planning stage through to completion. They work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure that all costs are properly estimated and controlled, and that the project is completed within the approved budget.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects, based on project plans and specifications.
  • Analyze project costs and identify potential cost-saving measures.
  • Review and negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring that they meet the required quality standards and that they are cost-effective.
  • Prepare progress reports and financial forecasts for the project, ensuring that all stakeholders are kept up-to-date on project progress.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor project costs and ensure that they are within the approved budget.
  • Manage change orders and variations to the project scope, ensuring that they are properly documented and accounted for.
  • Prepare and submit claims for payment to clients, ensuring that they are accurate and submitted on time.
  • Provide technical support and advice to project managers, architects, engineers, and contractors, ensuring that they have the necessary information to control costs and manage the budget.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, construction management, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in quantity surveying, with a focus on construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction cost estimating, budgeting, and cost control.
  • Familiarity with local and national construction codes and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in cost estimating software and other relevant tools.
