About the job Director of Revenue
Job Purpose
Director of Revenue are the key drivers of revenue and profits for the property. He/She also determines daily pricing by implementing guidelines for running inventory and pricing strategies. This ensures revenue is maximized and follows property objectives. He/She must be able to think strategically and manage multiple projects at once along with people from different distribution channels, sales and marketing teams. He/She is responsible for overseeing the creation of new revenue streams, as well as managing existing ones.He/She also assesses intermediary opportunities in line with segmentation goals. These must be in tune with corporate guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
Deep and broad analytical skills are a must for an effective Director of Revenue. He /she will also need an equal understanding of all areas of a hotel and/or hostel operation, especially all of the properties revenue generating functions. Director of Revenue will be responsible for key responsibilities as below, however, are not limited to -
- Responsible for maximizing revenue of the business by setting up pricing strategies
- Develop best models for competitor analysis, environmental scanning, market modeling, distribution yield management, business mix yield management, length of stay yield management, inventory availability by channel, pricing control and new pricing concepts
- Produce business reporting of all relevant performance KPIs on a daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly basis.
- Reviewing reports on sales, profits, costs, and other business metrics to help determine pricing strategies for both existing and new products
- Perform competitive benchmark studies and follow market trends
- Provide periodic dynamic forecast of expected results, variances and budget comparisons
- Executing Revenue Management Projects and Strategy by providing revenue management expertise to general managers and other functional leaders from sales and marketing teams
- Analyze overall business performance and provide summary report with recommendations to improve long-term strategies.
Requirements
- 8 years of hand-on hotel operations experience with some responsibility for forecasting, pricing and revenue generation
- Bachelors or Masters Degree in Hotel Management, Tourism or Economic Studies, ideally with significant coursework in a quantitative discipline like statistics, operations research, economics or computer science.
- A strong command of both written and spoken English is required; additional languages an asset.
- Highly computer literate with an outstanding command of Excel
Knowledgeable of hotel technology including:
- RMS, CRM, PMS, CRS, distribution channels (OTA, metasearch, GDS, etc.)
- Familiar with integration models and business models for the above
