Engineering Lead (DS3887ND)

Role purpose:

• Provide leadership across multiple initiatives guiding practitioners to achieve product / programme alignment.
• To envision, lead and develop fit-for-purpose, integrated end-to end technical solutions across multiple technologies for the organisation, through inspirational technical leadership and visionary long-term thinking.
• Provide leadership across multiple initiatives guiding engineering lead practitioners to achieve product/programme alignment.

Role requirements:

• Relevant IT degree and or Togaf, ITIL certification
• A demonstrated track record of delivering solutions with noteworthy leadership roles
• Exposure to management and integration of tooling related to DevOps practices in a Cloud environment
• A strong understanding of internet technologies and security principles
• A deep understanding of software development and the overall SDLC
• Previous experience as Solution Architect
• At least six years of work experience in the software industry
• Strong communication and facilitation skills are a key driver of success in this role

Responsibilities:

• Generating innovative approaches and solutions to complex issues.
• Designing solutions that require creative investigations of alternative architectural solutions.
• Designing architecture using new technologies in consultation with the patterns approval by Enterprise Architecture.
• Collaborating with the Architecture team to identify the right technologies to be used in the applications.
• Contributing across the technology stack, from database and DevOps infrastructure that supports continuous deployment.
• Demonstrating leadership in product quality, technical excellence, and engineering practices.
• Giving guidance in Agile engineering practices and various software and web development technologies to rapidly develop creative and efficient solutions that enhance clients customer, business partners and employee experience.
• Following the role-model best practice engineering processes and Agile behaviour.
• Encouraging team members to craft clear user stories, design tests for prototypes and solutions, and continuously deliver product enhancements.
• Liaising with other teams within and outside client digital unit to identify common deliverables and dependencies.
• Collaborating with various technical and architecture teams across the enterprise.
• Influencing peers and technical staff within the team and collaborate with internal customers and work teams across departments.
• Collaborating closely with product owners and team members to identify and socialise product and delivery risks.
• Working closely with the technical lead/infrastructure teams from the organisation to ensure solution complies with organisational standards and policies.
• Balancing strategic vision and strategy with the team to enable the execution of scalable and sophisticated solutions to solve common business needs.
• Acting as the principal designer for the products.
• Designing Architecture diagrams that will help the team and integration partners to understand the solution and vision.
• Adhering to the relevant Governance processes.
• Collaborating with Enterprise Architecture to propose changes to Principles, Standards and Reference Architectures.
• Contributing to the development of Detailed Business Cases in conjunction with Business and IT Solution and Service Providers.
