About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Intermediate Software Developer to join a dynamic team within a leading financial services client. This is a hybrid role based in Sandton, offering a 12-month contract with an exciting opportunity to work on innovative applications within the financial sector. You will develop, test, and maintain applications using technologies such as NetBeans, SQL, PostgreSQL, and DB2, contributing to the enhancement of critical business solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, test, and maintain software applications using NetBeans, SQL, PostgreSQL, and DB2 to meet business requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (business analysts, designers, testers) to define, design, and ship new features and functionality.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in existing applications, ensuring their smooth performance.
• Write clean, scalable, and efficient code that adheres to best practices.
• Participate in code reviews, share knowledge with team members, and promote team collaboration.
• Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications meet established standards.
• Work on applications deployed in the Azure cloud environment and ensure integration with third-party services and systems.
• Design, develop, and maintain APIs for application integrations, enabling seamless data exchange between systems.
• Collaborate with the team to enhance the efficiency, security, and scalability of all applications.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience working with NetBeans, SQL, PostgreSQL, and DB2 in a development environment.
• Strong familiarity with Unix systems and Azure environments.
• Solid experience with application integration and API development.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with other programming languages and frameworks is a plus.
• Knowledge of cloud computing and related technologies, particularly Azure.
• Understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
• Experience with API development and integrating third-party applications.
