Senior Data Engineer – Python | SQL | AWS | Data Platforms

Are you a hands-on Data Engineer passionate about building scalable data platforms and engineering solutions?

Our client in the banking sector is looking for experienced Senior Data Engineers to join a growing technical environment, developing and enhancing modern cloud-based data platforms.

This is a hands-on engineering opportunity where you will be actively involved in writing code, building data pipelines, developing complex ETL/ELT processes and delivering scalable data solutions that support critical business and banking operations.

What you'll be doing

• Design, develop and optimise scalable data pipelines and cloud-based data platforms.
• Build complex ETL/ELT processes using advanced Python and SQL.
• Develop, implement and maintain data engineering solutions on AWS.
• Build and manage data integration, ingestion and processing frameworks.
• Work with large datasets and distributed data processing technologies.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automation and deployment processes.
• Implement data quality, monitoring and performance optimisation practices.
• Collaborate with architects, developers and other technical stakeholders to deliver robust data solutions.

What we're looking for

• Proven experience in a hands-on Data Engineering role.
• Strong practical Python development skills – actively writing and maintaining production code.
• Advanced SQL skills, including complex queries and data transformations.
• Practical experience building and managing data pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud data technologies.
• Experience with ETL/ELT processes and modern data platforms.
• Understanding of CI/CD, automation and software development lifecycle practices.
• Experience working with large-scale data environments and distributed processing.

Advantageous experience

• Exposure to Apache Kafka.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience within banking or financial services environments.
• Exposure to Salesforce Data Cloud (particularly for senior-level candidates).
