About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Scrum Master to join our client's growing technology team in Australia. The Scrum Master will be responsible for facilitating Agile practices, supporting high-performing teams, and ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and in line with business objectives.
This role is ideal for someone who is confident working with cross-functional teams, understands Agile and Scrum methodologies, and can effectively remove roadblocks while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
This is a hybrid role, and candidates must be comfortable working both onsite and remotely.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate Scrum ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Support the team in effectively planning, executing, and delivering sprint commitments.
- Remove or help resolve blockers and impediments that may impact team progress.
- Work closely with Product Owners, Developers, Business Analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure clear communication and alignment.
- Coach and support team members in Agile principles, Scrum practices, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor sprint progress, team capacity, velocity, and delivery metrics.
- Promote transparency and accountability across projects and development teams.
- Identify opportunities to improve team processes, workflows, and overall delivery efficiency.
- Help manage dependencies, risks, and issues affecting project delivery.
- Facilitate communication between technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Support Product Owners in maintaining and prioritising the product backlog where required.
- Encourage a collaborative and productive team environment.
- Ensure Agile practices are consistently applied while adapting processes to suit project and business requirements.
- Prepare and communicate project updates, sprint reports, and delivery metrics to relevant stakeholders.
- Contribute to Agile transformation and continuous improvement initiatives across the organisation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field is preferred.
- 3+ years of experience working as a Scrum Master, Agile Coach, Project Coordinator, or in a similar Agile delivery role.
- Strong understanding of Scrum, Agile principles, and software development life cycles (SDLC).
- Proven experience facilitating Scrum ceremonies and Agile team processes.
- Experience working with cross-functional technology or software development teams.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving, facilitation, and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Ability to identify and remove impediments while keeping teams focused on delivery.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Experience using Agile project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
- Comfortable working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a distributed/hybrid team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), SAFe, or equivalent Agile certification.
- Experience working with Australian organisations or clients.
- Experience working with geographically distributed or hybrid teams.
- Exposure to Agile frameworks beyond Scrum, such as Kanban or SAFe.
- Experience working in software development, SaaS, technology, fintech, or other technology-driven environments.
Work Arrangement
Hybrid – candidates must be willing to work onsite and remotely based on business and team requirements.
