General Accountant

Purpose of the Position:

Working with and guided by the Financial Controller, the Senior Accountant is required to perform tasks relating to Alphas monthly reporting requirements and statutory obligations, as well as other accounting related ad hoc tasks. The Senior Accountant is expected to contribute to the improvement of efficiencies of the team and/or organisation as well as provide backup support during leave or other absences within the team.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Month End Reporting

• Prepare and maintain accurate monthly balance sheet reconciliation with detailed supporting
• documentation.
• Process and maintain accrual and prepayment calculations.
• Maintain fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, transfers, and reconciliations.
• Maintain property lease register, including monthly movement journals.
• Assist with the compilation of the Management Report and Branch Management Reports
• Management and reporting on collection of tolls/fines admin fees.
• Manage invoicing and commissions to/from 3rd party booking brokers.
• Maintain worksheets and post journals for recurring month-end tasks.
• Preparation and posting of charges between intra-group and JV entities.

Other

• Preparation of monthly Business Activity Statements
• Debt management relating to Tolls
• Ensure systems and processes are accurately maintained.
• Assist with meeting audit requirements at year end.
• Assist with budget preparation processes as directed by the Financial Controller
• Perform ad hoc duties as requested by the Financial Controller.
• Cross training of tasks within the team including Accounts Payable and Banking, to provide backup support during leave or other absences.
• Provide accurate and timely responses to any queries from branches or other internal and external parties.
• Accomplishing departmental objectives ensuring accuracy and attention to detail are of highest priority.
• Other duties as requested.

Process & System Improvement

• Identify ways to improve existing processes and systems in Finance and other areas of Corporate
• Services and make recommendations to Financial Controller.
• Undertake projects as required
