About Agave

Agave is the modern data infrastructure platform for construction — a $12 trillion industry running on software built 20–40 years ago. The product sits between legacy ERPs and modern construction software, automating manual workflows contractors currently handle by hand across ERP Sync, AP Automation, Expense Management, and Vendor Management. 550+ paying customers on 1–3 year contracts, multi-million-dollar ARR, 10% monthly growth, profitable and cash-flow positive since 2023.

Founded: 2021 | Team size: ~36 | Total funding: not disclosed (backed by Accel, Y Combinator, and executives from Procore, Autodesk, and Plaid) Industry: Property Tech / construction data infrastructure Website: useagave.com Office: San Francisco

The three co-founders worked together 12+ years at Graphiq (acquired by Amazon in 2017) and then Amazon.

Why Candidates Should Join

  • Profitable and compounding: Cash-flow positive since 2023, 550+ paying customers on multi-year contracts, 10% monthly growth — rare stability for an early-stage build role.
  • Proprietary infrastructure + built-in distribution: Deep integrations with every major construction ERP and PM platform plus 500+ paying customers and a growing co-sell network — what you build gets used immediately and compounds across the suite.
  • 01 ownership with CEO access: Own the full arc from idea to MVP to production to $1M+ ARR, then do it again. Reports directly to the CEO.

The Role

A hands-on, technical product leader who builds new products on top of Agave's infrastructure, owning the full arc from idea MVP production $1M+ ARR. Roughly 70–80% strategy, customer work, and roadmap; 20–30% execution. Works daily across Product Analysts, Account Executives, and engineers.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Define what gets built: synthesize signals from customers, PAs, AEs, and the market to set product direction, sequencing, and "why now."
  • Lead cross-functional execution: work daily with PAs, engineers, and AEs from requirements through scoping, QA, launch, and customer rollout.
  • Go deep on customers: work directly with construction companies to understand workflows, uncover unmet needs, and shape products people pay for.
  • Set and drive the roadmap: prioritize ruthlessly across a portfolio of products; know what's worth building now vs. later.
  • Think in platforms, not features: every product should make the next one easier to sell and faster to build.

Tech stack / tooling: APIs, SQL, databases, Postman.

Requirements

  • 1.5-6 years software (data analyst, product, or technical role)
  • Hands-on builder, not strategist
  • Technical depth: APIs, SQL, Postman, databases
  • Customer-facing: software engineers to CFOs
  • Early-stage startup tenure at data-dense product
  • SF 5 days in-person, no remote

Green Flags

  • PM or technical role at an early-stage startup (pre-Seed through Series C) building a data-dense or complex product (accounting, project management, B2B SaaS with operational complexity). Direct match.
  • Founding PM or founding-team experience demonstrating real roadmap ownership and shipping cadence from 0 to 1.
  • Construction tech, fintech, or vertical SaaS adjacency with accounting workflow exposure. Strong plus but not required.
  • Hands-on technical depth: production work with APIs, SQL, databases, Postman in a previous role (not just academic exposure).
  • Multi-year tenure at a previous role. Signals depth and follow-through.

Red Flags

  • Pure strategist or "CEO of the Product" mindset. This role is execution-heavy (70-80% strategy + customer work, but no scaffolding to plan in the abstract).
  • Pure consumer AI PM background without enterprise or B2B operational depth.
  • Big tech PM only (FAANG without startup tenure). Acceptable only if junior with 2 years or less of big-tech time.
  • Pure consulting or banking-to-PM track without startup adaptation. Mismatch with Agave's pace and in-the-weeds execution.
  • Laid off from last role for performance reasons. Prefers work-life balance, narrow scope, or remote-first. Hard mismatches.
