About Sunset
Sunset was founded to help founders — starting by supporting startups through shutting down, then expanding into unlocking a new revenue stream for all types of businesses. The underlying insight: the data a company generates day to day (collaboration, communication, building) is some of the most valuable training data in the world, and the next generation of model progress depends on real, proprietary data grounded in how actual businesses operate. Sunset is a primary source of it, partnering directly with the frontier AI labs. It has scaled from $0 to a multi-million run rate in a matter of months (multiple million in revenue in a single recent month), works with essentially all frontier labs, frontier data labelers, and RL environment teams, and is more than doubling its team right now.
Founded: 2023 | Team size: 11–50 (Seed) | Total funding: Not disclosed (recently raised again) Backers: Floodgate, Afore, Ludlow, Hustle Fund Industry: Legal Tech (per Contrario tag; operates as an AI-training-data business) Website: sunsethq.com Office: Dumbo, Brooklyn, NY

The Role
The first point of contact for operating companies exploring a new data-licensing revenue stream, building qualified pipeline for the Data Partnerships Account Executives. This is the harder of the two SDR seats: outreach targets healthy, ongoing companies with no urgent trigger pushing them toward yes, so persistence and credibility matter more than in a typical SDR role.
What You'll Be Doing
- Consistently hit or exceed monthly targets for qualified meetings booked
- Generate a high volume of opportunities through personalized outreach to operating companies
- Partner closely with Account Executives on sourcing, strategy, and deal handoff
- Continuously find ways to improve and iterate on outreach and process
- Speak credibly to the data-licensing and de-identification angle when it comes up
Tech stack: Not applicable (sales role).
Requirements
- Hit or exceed the monthly goal of 20 qualified meetings booked, generating a high volume of opportunities through personalized outreach.
- Partner closely with Account Executives on sourcing, strategy, and deal handoff, continuously iterating to improve outreach and process.
- Work in-person 5 days a week from the Dumbo office.
- 12+ months of BDR experience or equivalent quota ownership in consulting, closing, or operations, with the technical sharpness to speak to the data and de-identification angle when needed.
- Persist through rejection and maintain performance after hundreds of no's, approaching healthy, ongoing companies without urgent triggers, backed by high EQ/IQ to stay sharp and credible throughout.
Green Flags
- 12+ months as an SDR with clear quota ownership, or a consulting / closing / operations background where they carried a number
- Relentless without a forcing event: has succeeded selling into healthy, ongoing companies where there is no urgency pushing a yes
- Technically credible enough to hold the data licensing and de-identification angle in a conversation
- Demonstrated instinct to test, measure, and iterate on their own outreach
- High-slope early-career operator excited by an in-person, high-intensity, ground-floor seat
Red Flags
- Seeks a work-life-balance environment; the culture is high-intensity and expects candidates who want to work hard and get after it
- Only effective when there is urgency or a trigger event; struggles to create pipeline with healthy, ongoing companies
- Stereotypical hard-sell rep who lacks credibility or cannot speak to the data angle
- Slows down or drops quality after a run of rejections
- No quota ownership or client-facing performance signal to point to
