About the job Product Engineer
Product Engineer
San Francisco, CA · On-site · Full-time
Compensation: $175K–$225K + equity
About the Company
Our client is a venture-backed AI startup modernizing consumer underwriting in the residential real estate space. Their software turns hard-to-read financial documents into fair, consistent lending decisions, and has already helped a large number of people access housing. They’re revenue-generating, growing quickly, and small enough that every engineer’s work reaches real users. We’re representing them on a confidential basis and are happy to share more once we connect.
The Role
This is a hybrid product, engineering, and customer-facing role for engineers who think like business operators and take deep ownership of customer outcomes. You’ll work closely with product, engineering, and customer teams — sometimes directly with customers — to ship software that makes the product more useful, more reliable, and easier to adopt.
What you’ll be doing
- Integrate with property management systems and other messy real-world APIs
- Streamline customer acquisition through productized, self-serve workflows
- Take on forward-deployed engineering work and special engagements with high-value customers
- Diagnose and fix urgent bugs and workflow issues quickly when customers are blocked
- Communicate status, risks, tradeoffs, and decisions clearly to your manager and teammates
- Collaborate across product, customer success, sales, and operations to drive outcomes
Tech stack: TypeScript, React, SQL, REST APIs
Requirements
- 2–6 years of professional software engineering experience
- Full-stack ability across a TypeScript/React front end and a backend (APIs and data models) — this is a genuinely full-stack role, not front-end or infra-only
- Startup experience shipping customer-facing product features end to end (as opposed to platform or infrastructure work); background in an impact vertical or B2B SaaS (healthcare, govtech, fintech, proptech, etc.) is a plus
- Direct experience working with customers or embedded in a customer-facing product team
- Frames past work in terms of the customer outcomes delivered, rather than the tools or architecture used
- Able to work on-site in San Francisco five days a week
Nice to Haves
- Experience wiring up external APIs or wrangling messy, unreliable integration systems
- A CS degree or an equivalent hands-on engineering background
- Comfort working with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor or Copilot
Why Join
- Real-world impact — your work directly affects people at pivotal moments in their lives
- A founder-track role with real ownership at a fast-growing, revenue-generating company
- Small, high-caliber team where individual contributions are highly visible
