Job Title: Scrum Master

Job Purpose:

The Scrum Master is responsible for running the sprints, ensuring that all Scrum events, such as Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective, are conducted effectively. They assist the team in prioritizing the product backlog items, facilitate discussions during ceremonies, and help the team to improve their processes through retrospectives. The Scrum Master also supports the team in maintaining a sustainable pace and promotes a culture of continuous learning and adaptation

Key Responsibilities:

The key accountabilities of the Scrum Master include:

  1. Facilitating Scrum Events: The Scrum Master is responsible for ensuring that all Scrum events, such as Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective, are scheduled and effectively conducted.
  2. Removing Impediments: The Scrum Master identifies and eliminates obstacles that hinder the team's progress, collaborating with stakeholders to create a conducive working environment.
  3. Coaching and Mentoring: The Scrum Master guides the team in understanding and implementing Scrum principles, helping them adapt agile practices effectively.
  4. Promoting Self-Organization: The Scrum Master encourages the team to be self-organizing, allowing them to determine how to complete the work and continuously improve their processes.
  5. Protecting the Team: The Scrum Master shields the team from external disruptions, allowing them to focus on their commitments and goals during the Sprint.
  6. Helping with Prioritization: The Scrum Master assists the Product Owner and the team in prioritizing the product backlog items based on value and dependencies.
  7. Encouraging Collaboration: The Scrum Master fosters a collaborative environment where team members work together cohesively and communicate effectively.

  12. Conflict Resolution: The Scrum Master facilitates conflict resolution within the team or with external stakeholders to maintain a harmonious working environment.
  13. Organizational Support: The Scrum Master collaborates with other Scrum Masters, teams, and management to foster an agile culture and provide support in the organization's agile transformation.

Qualification and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Engineering, Business, etc.) or equivalent work experience.
  • Scrum Master certification such as Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM) from recognized organizations.
  • Additional Agile certifications (e.g., PMI-ACP) can be beneficial.
  • 3+ years of experience as a dedicated Scrum Master.
  • Proven track record of successfully facilitating Scrum teams and delivering high-quality products using agile methodologies.
  • Experience working with cross-functional and self-organizing teams in software development or other relevant industries.
  • Strong understanding of Scrum principles, practices, and ceremonies, with the ability to guide teams through the Scrum framework effectively.
  • Proficient in resolving conflicts, removing impediments, and promoting a collaborative and empowered team culture.
  • Familiarity with various agile frameworks and practices, and the ability to tailor them to suit the team's needs.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and mentoring skills to facilitate the team's growth and continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of agile metrics and reporting to track team performance and progress towards project goals.
  • Previous experience in agile project management, product development, or related fields is advantageous.
  • Experience in coordinating and managing multiple Scrum teams simultaneously, handling cross-team dependencies and scaling agile practices, if applicable.
