Job Title: Project Manager IT Infrastructure
Job Purpose:
The core responsibility of a Project Manager in IT Infrastructure is to manage and coordinate essential technology projects, whether they involve cloud-based or on-premises infrastructure. They oversee project planning, execution, and budget adherence, collaborating with technical teams and stakeholders. Their role ensures that IT infrastructure projects, whether in the cloud or on-premises, align with the company's strategic goals while minimizing disruptions to daily operations.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
The key accountabilities of the Project Manager Infrastructure role include:
1. Project Planning: Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, objectives, timelines,
and resource requirements, considering both on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure needs.
2. Stakeholder Communication: Establish clear communication channels with project
stakeholders, ensuring alignment with their expectations and providing regular project updates.
3. Resource Allocation: Manage and allocate resources effectively, including IT staff, equipment,
and budget, to meet project requirements on both cloud and on-premises platforms.
4. Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks associated with IT infrastructure projects and develop
mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions and ensure project success.
5. Vendor Management: Collaborate with external vendors and service providers to procure
necessary hardware, software, and services, while also managing vendor contracts and
performance.
6. Quality Assurance: Implement quality control measures to ensure that infrastructure solutions
meet or exceed industry standards and organizational requirements.
7. Timeline Management: Monitor project timelines rigorously, adjusting plans as needed to keep
projects on track and within predefined schedules for both cloud and on-premises infrastructure
components.
8. Change Management: Develop and execute change management strategies to facilitate the
smooth transition from legacy systems to new infrastructure solutions, whether on-premises or in
the cloud.
9. Documentation: Maintain accurate project documentation, including technical specifications,
process documentation, and project reports, to support auditing and future reference.
10. Budget Oversight: Manage project budgets, tracking expenses and ensuring that spending remains within approved limits, with a focus on cost optimization for both on-premises and cloud
resources.
11. Security and Compliance: Ensure that IT infrastructure solutions, whether on-premises or in the
cloud, adhere to security best practices and compliance standards relevant to the organization's
industry.
12. Team Leadership: Provide leadership to project teams, fostering collaboration and motivation
among team members working on IT infrastructure projects.
13. Continuous Improvement: Evaluate project outcomes, identifying areas for improvement in
processes, technologies, or methodologies, and implement enhancements for future projects.
14. Monitoring and Maintenance: Develop plans for ongoing monitoring, maintenance, and support
of IT infrastructure, whether it's hosted in the cloud or on-premises, to ensure long-term
sustainability.
15. Emergency Response: Establish protocols for responding to IT infrastructure emergencies, such
as system outages, security breaches, or data loss, to minimize downtime and data exposure.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., computer science, information technology) required;
- master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL) preferred.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is mandatory.
- 5-7 years of proven experience in project management, with a strong focus on IT infrastructure
- projects.
- Deep technical expertise in IT infrastructure components, including networking, servers, cloud
- technologies, and cybersecurity.
- Proficiency in risk assessment, resource allocation, and supplier/vendor management, including
- contract negotiation and vendor performance evaluation.
- Experience in managing Request for Information (RFI) or Request for Proposal (RFP) processes.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in change management and guiding teams through technology transitions.
- Knowledge of industry compliance standards and IT security best practices.
- Excellent documentation skills for technical specifications, project plans, and reports.
