1. Project Brief:
A Financial Controller for Capital Projects typically oversees the financial aspects of projects involving significant capital investments. Their job description may include:
1. Financial Planning and Analysis:
i. Develop and manage budgets for capital projects.
ii. Conduct financial analyses to assess project feasibility and return on investment.
2. Cost Management:
i. Monitor project expenses and ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
ii. Implement cost control measures to optimize project financial performance.
iii. Implement oversight on all contingency on project and how this is applied
3. Financial Reporting:
i. Prepare and present regular financial reports to management and stakeholders.
ii. Handle all board preparation for CAPEX reporting
iii. Oversee all project management reporting in plan view and status updates
iv. Provide insights into project financial status and variances.
4. Compliance:
i. Ensure compliance with financial regulations and accounting standards.
ii. Collaborate with legal and regulatory teams to address financial compliance requirements.
5. Forecasting:
i. Forecast financial outcomes for ongoing and future capital projects.
ii. Identify potential financial risks and propose mitigation strategies.
6. Collaboration:
i. Work closely with project managers and cross functional teams to align financial goals with project objectives.
ii. Provide financial guidance to support decision making.
7. Audit and Internal Controls:
i. Establish and monitor internal controls related to project finances.
ii. Coordinate with internal and external auditors during project audits.
8. Capital Allocation:
i. Participate in the evaluation of potential capital investments and provide financial insights.
ii. Assist in developing strategies for efficient capital allocation.
9. Financial Systems:
i. Oversee the implementation and maintenance of financial systems for tracking project expenditures.
ii. Ensure data accuracy and integrity.
