Senior Power BI Specialist

We are looking for a Senior Power BI Platform Specialist with strong hands-on expertise in Power BI and enterprise Business Intelligence solutions. The role combines BI architecture, semantic modelling, reporting, migration, governance, and stakeholder management, with a strong focus on designing scalable and sustainable enterprise analytics solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver end-to-end enterprise BI and analytics solutions using Power BI, Power Query, Power Pivot, DAX, and Microsoft Power Platform.
• Define scalable Power BI architectures aligned with enterprise data strategy, governance, security, performance, and operational requirements.
• Design, develop, and optimise Power BI datasets, semantic models, reports, dashboards, KPIs, and reusable analytical components.
• Lead and support the migration of legacy BI and reporting solutions to Power BI, including the assessment of existing reports, dashboards, KPIs, business logic, and underlying data models.
• Define migration strategies and target-state solutions while ensuring continuity of business-critical reporting and analytics.
• Design Power BI solutions using Snowflake and other enterprise/cloud data platforms as strategic data sources.
• Collaborate with data engineering and architecture teams to establish effective integration patterns between Power BI and enterprise data platforms.
• Translate complex business and analytical requirements into scalable technical solutions and well-structured semantic models.
• Apply dimensional modelling principles, including star schemas, facts, dimensions, measures, and KPI structures.
• Establish and promote best practices around Power BI governance, security, Row-Level Security (RLS), workspace management, performance optimisation, deployment, and lifecycle management.
• Support the definition of target-state BI architecture and platform standards.
• Evaluate existing BI solutions and recommend appropriate migration and modernisation approaches.
• Communicate and document architectural decisions, solution options, trade-offs, risks, dependencies, and benefits to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Work independently on BI initiatives, driving topics from requirements gathering through solution design, implementation, and deployment.
• Support CI/CD, version control, automated deployment, and structured release management for Power BI solutions.

Required Experience & Skills:

• 5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, analytics, data warehousing, or related disciplines, with significant hands-on Power BI experience.
• Advanced expertise in Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
• Strong hands-on experience with DAX, Power Query, Power Pivot, and semantic modelling.
• Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale Power BI solutions.
• Strong understanding of dimensional data modelling, including star schemas, facts, dimensions, measures, and KPI design.
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with enterprise data warehouses and modern cloud data platforms.
• Experience integrating Power BI with Snowflake, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, or comparable data platforms.
• Strong understanding of Power BI governance, security, RLS, workspace management, performance optimisation, deployment, and lifecycle management.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain and defend technical and architectural decisions from business, technical, governance and operational perspectives.
