OpenStack Cloud Architect | Hybrid (Ingelheim & Remote) | 6-Month Contract
Role Overview
We are seeking an OpenStack Cloud Architect to support a VMware migration project for our client. This role involves advising on OpenStack architecture, building prototypes, and setting up a scalable on-premise cloud environment with a strong focus on CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
This is a full-time, 6-month contract with at least 50% remote work and on-site presence in Ingelheim as needed. Travel expenses for on-site work will be covered separately.
Project Scope
- The client is transitioning away from VMware and evaluating OpenStack as an alternative.
- Their current internal cloud offers automated VM and database provisioning via ServiceNow.
- The goal is to create a flexible OpenStack-based environment that supports CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code for a public cloud-like experience on-premise.
- The preferred OpenStack solution is a non-licensed variant with paid supportrequiring expert guidance on technical feasibility and support strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Phase 1: OpenStack Architecture & Consultancy
- Provide technical consultation on OpenStack setup and architecture design.
- Recommend OpenStack variants and configurations aligned with business needs.
- Advise on the technical feasibility of integrating OpenStack with existing on-prem infrastructure.
- Define best practices for service automation and resource provisioning.
Phase 2: Implementation & Operations (Day 2 Ops)
- Support in setting up and organizing OpenStack operations.
- Build prototypes and proof-of-concepts (PoCs) for the new infrastructure.
- Establish CI/CD pipelines and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Assist in designing a scalable, flexible OpenStack deployment model.
Required Skills & Experience
Must-Have (Expert Level)
- Cloud architecture design
- OpenStack setup, configuration, and deployment
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) implementation
- CI/CD pipeline development
- Fluent English (C1 level)
Nice-to-Have
- Experience with ServiceNow for cloud automation
- German language skills (B2 level or higher)
- Willingness to travel occasionally for on-site work in Ingelheim
Work Conditions
- Start Date: ASAP
- Contract Duration: 6 months
- Workload: Full-time
- Location: Hybrid (Remote + On-site in Ingelheim as needed)
- Rate: Up to 114/hour (net) for remote work
- Travel Expenses: Covered separately for on-site work
