The Import Inbound Logistics Specialist is responsible for coordinating and managing all activities related to the receipt of imported goods.

This role ensures that inbound shipments are tracked, documented, and delivered on time while maintaining compliance with international import regulations. The specialist acts as the key point of contact between suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and internal teams such as procurement, supply chain, and warehouse operations.

Key Responsibilities

Shipment Coordination & Tracking:

* Manage the entire inbound logistics process for imported products, including tracking shipments from foreign suppliers to the destination warehouse.

* Monitor transit times and update internal systems to reflect in-transit inventory and receipt status.

* Serve as a backup resource for shipment entry and recordkeeping to ensure all inbound products are received efficiently.


Documentation & Compliance:

* Prepare and review all required import documentation (e.g., commercial invoices, packing lists, ISF filings, entry summaries, and certificates of origin).

* Coordinate with customs brokers to ensure timely clearance of shipments and adherence to import regulations.


Vendor & Freight Management:

* Liaise with freight forwarders, ocean carriers, and other logistics partners to negotiate rates and resolve shipment discrepancies or delays.

* Develop and maintain relationships with external partners to improve service levels and reduce inbound transportation costs.


Data Analysis & Reporting:

* Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, transit times, and cost per shipment.

* Provide regular updates and reports to internal stakeholders, highlighting performance trends and identifying opportunities for process improvement.


Continuous Improvement:

* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to review and refine logistics processes, aiming to improve efficiency and reduce overall costs.

* Participate in process improvement initiatives and contribute ideas to enhance the accuracy of inbound tracking and documentation.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

* Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field; or equivalent work experience in international logistics.

* A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in import logistics, inbound shipping, or a similar role within a fast-paced environment.
