A Commis is an entry-level position in a professional kitchen that provides the opportunity to learn and develop culinary skills under the guidance of experienced chefs. As a Commis, you will assist the Chef de Partie in preparing and cooking meals, and contribute to the overall smooth operation of the kitchen.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of food items, including chopping, slicing, and peeling ingredients.
  • Prepare mise-en-place (the preparation of ingredients in advance) for the Chef de Partie.
  • Learn and follow standardized recipes and techniques.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Assist with kitchen equipment maintenance and cleaning.
  • Adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Learn basic culinary skills and techniques.
