Client is seeking a Level II electrical engineering professional to join our Renewables Studies and Utility System Planning team to perform related engineering analysis necessary in renewables and power utility planning. Project Engineer II performs a variety of tasks, providing technical expertise and leadership to solve design problems, complete electrical system studies, and manage individual project tasks under some supervision. Incumbents are expected to perform a variety of routine and complex tasks to solve power utility design problems, effectively communicate within the design and project management team, and provide technical guidance on unusual or complex problems to comply with applicable standards, such as IEEE, the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) and NEC as applicable. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of challenges facing the power industry today. This position reports to the Division Team Lead or Division Manager.
Position requirements include:
- Project Engineer II works under some supervision; however is expected to accurately produce required results without specific direction in a timely fashion. At this level, the Project Engineer II shall be proficient in basic system analysis/studies scope and scheduling, understand transmission and distribution analysis criteria, and be able to effectively communicate inadequacies in information provided by others and offer recommendations to comply with applicable standards.
- Be an active leader in the modeling, planning and evaluation of Client transmission and distribution overhead/underground power distribution systems to ensure that the needs of the Client are met in the most economical and effective manner. Project Engineer II is also expected to conduct accurate and efficient reviews of work completed by peers in support of company commitment to quality.
- Must be able to interface directly with Clients and other industry professionals, representing the very best of Booth & Associates at all times, customer focused, responsive, polite and professional.
- Focus on performing a diversified range of studies related to electric utility and renewables integration, including (not limited to) Power Quality, Arc Flash, Distributed Generation, Battery Energy Storage, Micro-grid, and Transient Analysis studies/analysis/implementation.
- Assist in the continued development of both Company and Client standards
- Participate in Distribution System Analysis utilizing Milsoft Engineering Analysis (EA) - WindMil® software for analysis of Voltage, Fault, and Load Allocation.
- Participate in System Coordination Studies utilizing CYME - CYMTCC software (Eaton Corp.) to input TCC curves and evaluate selective coordination between Over Current Protective Devices (OCPDs).
- Incumbent is able to manage some to all stages of system analysis, including schedule and budget, with supervision.
