Prioritized Must Have Skills for the Environmental Project Engineer:
#1. Bachelors degree from an accredited 4-year college or university in engineering or related field.
#2. Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the investigation and/or remediation of environmentally impacted sites
#3. EIT is required and a PE or PG license is preferred but not required.
#4. 40 HR Hazwoper and 8hr refresher course required.
Responsibilities of the Environmental Project Engineer:
- Effectively collaborates with team members and others to execute assignments, including mentoring/direction to junior staff.
- Observes and/or oversees field activities, provides technical direction to team members and subcontractors and prepares written reports documenting field activities and construction. As field team leader, directs team members to effectively execute assignments and provides strong organizational and managerial skills. May serve as site safety officer or field engineer for larger projects.
- Collects necessary field data through observation or field measurements such as field survey equipment, tape measures, turbidity meters, sieve analysis, cameras, pumps, data loggers, remediation equipment, and other instruments as needed.
- Ensures technical, quality, and safety compliance with project plans, specifications, and regulations.
- Prepares and/or reviews technical data, reports, specifications, plans, calculations, and/or other technical information.
- Uses engineering software and computer hardware necessary to complete engineering analysis and engineering design projects. Software may include Geographic Information Systems (GIS), computer-aided design and drafting (CADD), spreadsheet applications, hydrogeologic software, boring log software, and others.
- Meets with clients, contractors/subcontractors, regulators, and other consultants to discuss proposed or ongoing work.
- Is familiar with applicable rules and regulations as they apply to project work and basic calculations.
Requirements for the Environmental Project Engineer:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited 4-year college or university in engineering or related field.
- Engineer In Training (EIT) designation; Professional Engineer (PE) license is encouraged.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the investigation and/or remediation of environmentally impacted sites.
- OSHA 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certification and annual 8-hour refresher, as applicable.
- A valid drivers license, reliable vehicle, and proof of auto insurance is required for this position. Must also be able to travel for project site visits, meetings, data collection, and training. Travel is highly dependent upon project work requirements and may be extensive at times. Travel may be required to sites throughout and distant from New England.
Other Key Requirements:
- Hybrid role working at least 3 days a week in the office.
- No sponsorships or visa holders. No Corp-to-Corp.
