Prioritized Must Have Skills for the Geotechnical Project Manager:
#1. Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree or Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) in science or engineering (e.g., environmental engineering, civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, geological engineering, geology, environmental science, earth science, or related field) is required.
#2. A minimum of 5 years related experience and/or training or equivalent is required.
#3. EIT is required for this role.
#4. PE or PG preferred but not required.
Responsibilities of the Geotechnical Project Manager:

- Participates in initial client marketing meetings, provides marketing support, and assists in presentations. Participates in the negotiation process and formulating the proposal.
- Maintains understanding of project financial issues including project budget, effective and as sold multipliers, terms of agreement, changes in agreement scope, billing process, and settlements. Schedules and records all meetings and ensures follow-up on decisions.
- Determines team staffing requirements and works with appropriate RCMs to obtain staffing needs. Delegates authority and responsibility to degree required including designation of assistant project manager. Ensures project files and reporting are maintained. Monitors progress and takes action when team performance deviates from established plan. Monitors team performance to ensure compliance with contractual arrangements. Monitors product quality, design, and technology to ensure consistency with contractual arrangements. Implements the firms policies that have an impact on team activities.
- Makes final decisions in matters of team technical performance relative to procedures and end products as consistent with contract requirements and company procedures and policies; (calls upon other resources of firm in cases of disputes beyond his/her area of competence).
- Directs and has the authority to supervise the daily activities of the project team as well as the activities of subcontractors involved in assigned projects.
- Responsibilities may include interviewing prospective employees; training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints; and resolving problems; and disciplinary documentation as may be required with guidance from Human Resources.
- Reviews and approves weekly employee time and expense sheets; annually co-develops employees goals; evaluates annual employee performance; and periodically monitors individual employee progress towards career goals consistent with company objectives.
Requirements for the Geotechnical Project Manager:
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree or Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) in science or engineering (e.g., environmental engineering, civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, geological engineering, geology, environmental science, earth science, or related field) is required. A masters degree is preferred. A minimum of 5 years related experience and/or training or equivalent is required.
- Must possess a valid drivers license, have own transportation, and be able to travel for project site visits, meetings, data collection, and training. Travel is highly dependent on project work requirements and may be extensive at times.
- For engineers, Engineer in Training (EIT) certification is required, and Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure is encouraged.
- Must demonstrate active involvement, engagement, and/or leadership in subsequent sequential education (e.g., Master's degree, Toastmasters), and/or professional societies. R
- Attend industry and/or technical conferences and functions/meetings at applicable professional organization(s). Become involved in client interest group/team, the client mentor/protégé program, and/or an external professional organization committee. Prepare and give internal and/or external presentations as needed.
Other Key Requirements:
- Hybrid role working at least 3 days a week in the office.
- No sponsorships or visa holders. No Corp-to-Corp.
