About the job JR-214791 DBA
Hello, our name is Customertimes, but you can call us CT. We are a global digital engineering, product development, and technology consulting company. Headquartered in New York, we have a team of 1000+ experts working across 65+ countries.
About the project:
You'll join a team supporting a Java-based product running in the cloud (AWS). The immediate focus is improving the performance and stability of high-load SQL Server databases. That means implementing and monitoring indexes, and proposing changes to processes that currently affect system stability.
Location: Ukraine, Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, Portugal, Montenegro, and Latin America (e.g., Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Mexico). We are hiring for two positions: one in a European time zone, and one with working-hours overlap with US Eastern Time (EST).
How you'll make an impact:
- Optimize the performance of high-load transactional systems built on Microsoft SQL Server;
- Analyze execution plans, statistics, locking, and blocking to find the root causes of performance issues;
- Design and implement indexes, and monitor their impact on system performance;
- Manage and change the infrastructure around the databases, including server configuration, scaling, monitoring, and automation;
- Implement solutions that improve system stability and reliability;
- Write, review, and optimize complex T-SQL code (queries, stored procedures, functions);
- Administer and support SQL Server environments in the cloud (AWS preferred; Azure or GCP also considered);
- Support high availability and disaster recovery solutions (e.g., Always On, Multi-AZ, or cloud equivalents);
- Build and support data integrations using ETL/ELT processes and APIs (SSIS is a plus);
- Communicate with the team and stakeholders in English, explain technical findings, and propose optimization solutions.
What makes you a great fit:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server as a DBA, Database/DevOps/SRE Engineer, Data Engineer, or Backend Developer working closely with the database;
- Proven performance-tuning experience: query optimization, indexing, execution plans, statistics, and locking;
- Strong T-SQL skills;
- Experience managing database infrastructure in a cloud environment: AWS (preferred), Azure, or GCP;
- DevOps mindset: CI/CD, automation and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash), and monitoring;
- Experience with integrations: ETL/ELT and APIs;
- Upper-Intermediate (B2) English or higher.
You are a star if you have:
- SQL Server on AWS (RDS and/or EC2);
- Hands-on HA/DR (Always On, Multi-AZ);
- SSIS;
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep);
- Experience supporting Java-based applications.
If you're looking to contribute to global projects, grow your skills, shape the way you work, and be part of a connected international community — Customertimes is the place to build your next career chapter. Are you ready to spark the tech with us?
