About the job JR-151333 Data Scientist Senior
Job Description:
We are looking for a Senior/Lead Data Scientist to join our client's team. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and productionization of predictive and time-series models for sell-out data in the beverages domain. You will own the analytical solution end-to-end, including client discovery, prototyping, validation, deployment, and ongoing improvements.
You will work as part of a delivery team alongside a Solution Architect and a Project Manager. All analytics-related and data science technical decisions will be owned by this role.
Note: Availability to work aligned with Japan time zone.
Locations:
- Ukraine
- Poland
- Hungary
- Bulgaria
Requirements:
Hard skills:
- Strong Python for data science and production-grade pipelines (pandas/numpy, scikit-learn; writing clean, testable code);
- Proven experience with forecasting / time-series modeling (e.g., ARIMA/SARIMA, ETS, Prophet, gradient boosting for TS, feature-based forecasting);
- Experience building predictive models end-to-end: feature engineering, model selection, hyperparameter tuning, and rigorous evaluation;
- Solid SQL and experience working with relational databases and/or data warehouses; ability to design efficient data extraction and transformations;
- Practical software engineering fundamentals: Git, code reviews, packaging, unit testing, logging, reproducibility;
- Experience communicating model outputs to non-technical stakeholders and making trade-offs explicit (accuracy vs. interpretability vs. operational complexity).
Nice-to-have
- Hands-on experience with Azure services for data and ML (e.g., Azure Machine Learning, Databricks, Synapse, Data Factory, ADLS Gen2, AKS);
- MLOps experience (MLflow, model registry, automated training/scoring pipelines, monitoring, Azure DevOps CI/CD);
- Experience with Spark / distributed processing for large-scale time-series datasets;
- Domain experience in CPG/retail forecasting (sell-out, promotions, holidays, cannibalization, assortment changes).
Soft Skills
- Strong client-facing skills: structured discovery, facilitation of requirement workshops, expectation management;
- Analytical rigor and ownership: ability to define the right problem, not just implement models;
- Clear communication: explain complex modeling choices in simple terms, produce concise documentation;
- Collaboration and reliability: work effectively with Architect and PM, unblock others, deliver on commitments;
- Ability to operate in ambiguity and iterate fast while maintaining quality standards.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead client discovery and translate requirements into an executable modeling plan (baseline, feature set, evaluation approach, delivery milestones);
- Explore and prepare sell-out data (quality checks, missing data handling, outliers, seasonality, calendar effects);
- Build forecasting models across multiple horizons and aggregation levels (SKU x region x channel) using time-series and ML approaches;
- Design robust validation (time-series cross-validation / backtesting) and report performance with business-relevant metrics;
- Prototype a working solution quickly and iterate with stakeholders based on feedback;
- Productionize the solution on Azure (batch or API scoring): pipeline orchestration, model registry/versioning, CI/CD handover with the Architect;
- Implement monitoring and alerting (data drift, performance degradation, pipeline health) and define retraining triggers;
- Document assumptions, model behavior, limitations and operational runbooks to enable maintenance and knowledge transfer.
What We Offer:
- Competitive salary;
- 100% remote opportunity;
- Flexible work environment (in-office, remote, or hybrid depending on preferences and manager approval);
- Opportunities for professional growth and career advancement;
- Collaborative and innovative work environment;
- Paid time off, including holidays, vacation and sick leave;
- Benefits may vary by location and will be confirmed during the interview process.
