City University Ajman is seeking a dedicated and innovative individual to serve as the Director of Quality Assurance and Institutional Effectiveness (QA & IE). This position is pivotal in ensuring the highest standards of quality and institutional effectiveness across the university. The Director will oversee the QA & IE department, manage institutional research, planning, assessment, quality assurance, and accreditation processes. This role provides a unique opportunity to lead initiatives that promote continuous improvement, compliance, and excellence in higher education.

Responsibilities

Governance:

  • Plan, develop, and implement the annual budget for the QA and IE department.
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement professional development activities to inform and educate the College community on institutional effectiveness practices.
  • Oversee daily operations of the QA & IE Department.
  • Ensure confidentiality of information related to students and employees during business operations.
  • Complete all required training and professional development sessions sponsored by the College.
  • Conduct special projects and studies to support decision-making for the College President.

Institutional Research:

  • Prepare and publish annual institution-wide assessment reports and Fact Book.
  • Manage survey administration, data analysis, report generation, and dissemination of results.

Institutional Planning and Assessment:

  • Supervise and coordinate strategic planning processes, including assessment evaluation strategies, environmental scanning, broad-based research, evaluation strategies, assessment outcomes, and trend analysis.
  • Assist faculty members and department heads in assessing educational programs and activities by facilitating data collection and analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation requirements in the planning and assessment process.
  • Monitor institutional outcomes and action plans for improvement and report on key performance indicators.
  • Prepare and implement an annual Institutional Effectiveness Plan.

Quality Assurance and Quality Control:

  • Supervise the document management process, ensuring all Standard Operating Documents are archived and available on demand.
  • Maintain up-to-date tools and products for continuous improvement in Institutional Effectiveness.
  • Manage the institutional Policy Manual and lead the development, implementation, and revision of policies and procedures related to institutional planning and effectiveness.
  • Provide leadership for technology-facilitated systems to enhance institutional quality and demonstrate achievement of the Colleges Strategic Goals and Mission.
  • Monitor operational activities to ensure compliance with CAA and MOE regulations and accreditation standards with high integrity and ethical practices.
  • Ensure timely submission of all required external reports, including those for the Commission for Academic Accreditation, Ministry of Education, accreditation agencies, and professional organizations.
  • Ensure Quality Assurance Officers review and approve e-course files and additional course timesheets within defined periods.

Accreditation:

  • Maintain documentation of all accreditation-related materials, including self-studies, committee reports, manuals, standards, policies, and correspondence from accrediting agencies.
  • Serve as an academic accreditation liaison and point of contact for assigned accreditation agencies, both national and international.

Other:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Participate in all assigned University committees.

Qualifications

  • A masters degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution (doctorate preferred).
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a leadership role related to quality assurance, institutional effectiveness, or a similar area in higher education.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accreditation standards and regulatory requirements in higher education.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in institutional practices.
  • Experience in budget management and resource allocation.
  • Ability to lead and inspire a team toward continuous improvement and academic excellence.
