About the job Quantity Surveyor

Working within the Birmingham branch the Quantity Surveyor will work with the wider team to ensure the profitability of allocated projects. You will undertake full quantity surveying/cost management on projects including pre-contract tenders, cost planning, and contract administration contracts.

KEY RESULT AREAS:

Provision QS support for all projects within the UK Midlands Mid/West Region

Attend customer commercial and progress meetings

Understanding of current and new contracts within the UK Midlands Mid/West Region

Highlight and mitigate risks areas on current and forecasted projects

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Working with the commercial, operations and in-house Design Team to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget

Assist in the preparation of initial budgets and cost plans

Support the preparation of tender packages, analyse and compare on quotations received, make recommendations for appointment

Complete sub-contract documentation in accordance with company procedures

Manage work packages from appointment through to final account including certifying payments and issuing the appropriate notices as required by the sub-contract

Monitoring works packages against budget, assessing variation claims and preparing reports for Client

Submitting timely requests for payment, agreement of these with Client's representative where appropriate and ensuring payments are received in accordance with agreed timescales

Monitoring project progress (in conjunction with Contracts Managers) and issuing appropriate notices to Client

Internal cost management and reporting actuals to Contracts Managers

Attend customer meetings to present solutions and discuss proposals

Ensure that all administrative tasks are carried out efficiently

Ensure familiarisation with best practice and industry guidance and implement as appropriate

Support and promote a team culture and company values

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal - Responsible to Regional Manager - Birmingham. Liaising closely with colleagues in commercial, the business development and operations teams.

External - Key customer contacts

TECHINCAL SKILLS:

Relevant experience of construction and Access Scaffolding.

QS experience on major projects

Excellent numeracy skills

Excellent IT skills

Degree qualified

CSCS card

Driving license
