About the job Country Head - China

As Country Head, the primary focus is to drive business growth, profitability, and market expansion within Chinas B2B sector. This role carries full P&L responsibility and requires the development and execution of a comprehensive business strategy to maximize commercial success.

Primary Responsibilities:

Business Expansion & Market Strategy

  • Develop and implement a growth-focused business strategy, starting with selecting the right product portfolio, licensing partnerships, regulatory approvals, and commercialization.

  • Lead strategic partnerships, alliances, and licensing agreements to enhance business reach and maximize asset value.

  • Establish the company's brand positioning in the industry, ensuring alignment with global standards and long-term value creation.

Sales & Business Development Leadership

  • Drive sales and business development efforts across key B2B channels, including retail, institutional, and industrial clients.

  • Identify new revenue opportunities, oversee contract negotiations, tender renewals, and deal closures across the Mainland.

  • Strengthen relationships with critical customer accounts, ensuring high-value business deals and long-term collaborations.

Investment Planning & Execution

  • Create and execute investment plans for product and asset development, M&A opportunities, and other strategic growth initiatives.

  • Work closely with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to align business priorities and ensure financial sustainability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with R&D teams to gather insights on product pipelines, regulatory requirements, and market potential.

  • Collaborate with operations and supply chain teams to ensure seamless supply-demand planning and timely product delivery.

Regulatory & Compliance Oversight

  • Monitor all sales and marketing activities to ensure compliance with local market regulations, legal frameworks, and ethical standards.

  • Develop and implement governance mechanisms to manage financial performance effectively.

Building & Leading High-Performance Teams

  • Recruit, develop, and lead strong commercial and operational teams across China to support business expansion.

  • Foster a high-performance sales culture focused on customer-centricity, execution excellence, and results-driven performance.

  • Implement reward and recognition programs to keep teams motivated and aligned with business goals.

The Impact

This role is critical for driving growth, expanding market presence, and building a strong foundation for long-term success in China. By developing strategic partnerships, optimizing sales performance, and ensuring operational excellence. Candidates working with multinational companies with experience in the healthcare/ pharmaceutical industry, particularly in APIs and Generic Formulations (GF), are highly desirable.
