About the Company

Our Client is a leading European software engineering organization known for its strong engineering culture, technical excellence, and ownership-driven mindset. A small, startup-like team within the organization is building a desktop control plane for local AI inference, enabling users to deploy, configure, and manage AI models directly on local devices.

The product has already reached MVP stage and is moving rapidly toward open-source release. The team works closely with users, iterates quickly, and operates with minimal bureaucracy, allowing engineers to make meaningful technical decisions and see their impact immediately.

  • Location: Poland (Remote)
  • Work Model: Full-Time | Remote
  • Work Authorization: Valid Work-Permit for Poland
  • Compensation: PLN 252,000 – PLN 373,000 annually

The Opportunity

As a Senior / Staff Kotlin Desktop Engineer, you will play a key role in building a next-generation desktop application at the intersection of AI, developer tooling, and cross-platform engineering. This is a highly technical role for engineers who enjoy solving difficult systems-level problems, building developer-focused products, and owning features from concept through production.

What You'll Do

  • Build and enhance desktop applications using Kotlin and Compose Desktop
  • Develop interfaces for AI model lifecycle management, configuration, and monitoring
  • Integrate desktop applications with backend REST APIs
  • Implement configuration management using TOML, JSON, and YAML
  • Connect coding agents and AI tooling to locally hosted AI models
  • Create and maintain native installers for Windows, Linux, and macOS
  • Design and implement solutions for complex cross-platform challenges
  • Collaborate closely with users and engineers to rapidly deliver new functionality
  • Take ownership of features from architecture through deployment

Requirements

  • Strong Kotlin development experience
  • Experience with Compose Desktop or desktop application development
  • Hands-on experience with build systems such as Gradle, Make, or Bazel
  • Experience building or maintaining developer tooling
  • Strong understanding of Kotlin Coroutines and concurrent programming
  • Experience integrating REST APIs
  • Cross-platform development experience across Windows, Linux, and macOS
  • Fluent English communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and thrive in highly autonomous environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Open-source contributions
  • IntelliJ Plugin development experience
  • Experience with Scala
  • Familiarity with AI tooling and local AI inference environments
  • Experience with LiteLLM, OpenRouter, proxy layers, or related technologies
  • Experience building CI/CD tooling, developer platforms, or workflow automation tools
  • Experience shipping products from MVP to production
