Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:
Assume command of the vessel and exercise full responsibility for its safe navigation, operation, and maintenance in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
Lead and manage the ship's crew, delegating duties and responsibilities as necessary to ensure smooth operations and effective communication.
Plan and oversee all aspects of the vessel's voyages, including route planning, navigation, cargo loading/unloading, and compliance with port regulations and customs procedures.
Monitor weather conditions, sea state, and other environmental factors, and adjust course and speed as needed to ensure the safety of the vessel, crew, and cargo.
Conduct regular safety drills, inspections, and maintenance activities to ensure compliance with maritime safety standards and regulations.
Maintain accurate logs, records, and reports of the vessel's activities, including voyage data, fuel consumption, maintenance schedules, and crew certifications.
Serve as the primary point of contact for port authorities, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders, representing the company with professionalism and integrity.
Provide leadership, mentorship, and training to crew members, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
Valid Master Mariner license (Captain's license) issued by an accredited maritime authority.
years of experience as a Captain or senior officer on [type of vessel] in [specific operating area, e.g., coastal waters, international waters, etc.].
Thorough knowledge of maritime laws, regulations, and safety protocols, including SOLAS, COLREGs, and ISM Code.
Strong leadership and decision-making skills, with the ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English and/or other relevant languages.
Proficiency in navigation software and other relevant technology used in maritime operations.
Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and lead a diverse team of crew members.
