Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the onboard IT team, including network administrators, systems engineers, help desk technicians, and other IT personnel, to ensure the efficient operation of shipboard IT systems and services.
Maintain and support shipboard network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, wireless networks, satellite communications, and internet connectivity, to provide reliable and high-speed connectivity for guests and crew members.
Implement and enforce IT policies, procedures, and security protocols to protect shipboard IT systems and data from cybersecurity threats, malware, and unauthorized access, and ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards.
Manage IT procurement, vendor relationships, and budgeting processes to support the acquisition, deployment, and maintenance of hardware, software, and telecommunications equipment onboard.
Provide technical support and assistance to guests and crew members regarding IT-related inquiries, issues, and requests, and ensure timely resolution of IT service tickets and support tickets.
Plan and execute IT projects and initiatives to enhance onboard technology capabilities, improve operational efficiency, and support business objectives, such as system upgrades, software deployments, and network expansions.
Conduct regular assessments and audits of shipboard IT systems, equipment, and infrastructure to identify areas for improvement, optimize performance, and mitigate risks.
Collaborate with shore-based IT teams, corporate headquarters, and external partners to coordinate IT initiatives, share best practices, and leverage technology solutions across the fleet.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
years of experience in IT management, preferably in the maritime, hospitality, or cruise industry, with a track record of success in leading IT teams and managing shipboard IT operations.
Strong technical expertise in network administration, systems engineering, cybersecurity, and telecommunications, with proficiency in managing complex IT environments and infrastructure.
Experience with maritime IT systems, satellite communications, maritime regulations (e.g., SOLAS, ISM Code), and maritime-specific software applications is highly desirable.
Excellent leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to motivate, mentor, and develop a diverse team of IT professionals, and foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze complex IT issues, develop effective solutions, and make sound judgments in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests, crew members, senior management, and external stakeholders.
Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required in a 24/7 operation onboard a cruise ship.
