Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Captain in managing and operating the vessel
- Ensure the safety and security of all passengers and crew onboard the cruise ship
- Manage the navigation and steering of the vessel
- Supervise and train other crew members
- Maintain and update navigational charts and equipment
- Monitor weather conditions and make necessary adjustments to the vessel's course
- Conduct regular safety drills and ensure all safety procedures are followed
- Maintain accurate records of all activities and incidents on board
- Communicate effectively with the Captain and other crew members
- Ensure compliance with all maritime regulations and company policies
- Assist with the loading and unloading of cargo and supplies
- Handle any emergency situations that may arise
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Captain.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a 1st Officer on a cruise ship or private yacht
- Valid STCW certification
- Valid Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC)
- Proficiency in navigation and ship handling
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a team environment
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Basic mechanical and technical knowledge
- Ability to pass a background check and drug test.
