Job Description:
Crew Life at Sea is seeking a highly skilled and experienced 1st Assistant Repairman to join our team. As a member of our crew, you will have the opportunity to work and travel on state-of-the-art vessels while providing essential repair and maintenance services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Chief Repairman in overseeing the repair, maintenance, and operation of all mechanical and electrical systems on board the vessel
- Conduct routine inspections and identify any potential issues or areas in need of repair
- Perform repairs and maintenance on various equipment and systems, including but not limited to engines, generators, pumps, and HVAC systems
- Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment
- Keep accurate records of all maintenance and repairs performed
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and procedures
- Train and mentor junior repairmen on board
- Communicate effectively with other crew members and superiors to coordinate repairs and maintenance tasks
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a 1st Assistant Repairman on board a vessel
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagrams
- Experience with welding and fabrication is a plus
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment medical examination and drug test
- Valid STCW certification and seafarer's medical certificate
