About the Opportunity:

Crew Life At Sea is now hiring Recycling Operators on behalf of a major cruise line partner. This important role is responsible for the safe handling, segregation, and disposal of all waste materials onboard. As a Recycling Operator, you will help maintain the cleanliness and safety of the ships Recycling Center while ensuring compliance with international maritime waste management standards such as MARPOL and SOLAS.

This position is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and passionate about environmental sustainability. All placements are made directly with the cruise line, and no recruitment or placement fees are ever charged.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Operate and oversee garbage segregation, handling, and safe disposal in accordance with MARPOL and company procedures

  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in the Recycling Center and related waste processing areas

  • Handle hazardous waste and contribute to correct storage, labeling, and offloading procedures

  • Operate and monitor incinerators, silos, dryers, and ash management systems

  • Keep detailed garbage logs and ensure compliance with the Garbage Management Plan (GMP)

  • Assist with food waste processing and pulper system operations

  • Conduct minor repairs and cleaning of waste equipment, in coordination with the Engine Department

  • Follow all environmental, safety, and health regulations (HESS protocols) and report any violations

  • Coordinate with the Staff Captain, Recycling Operations Officer, and Staff Chief Engineer on waste handling and equipment use

  • Access engine spaces for work duties in compliance with engine room access procedures

Who Were Looking For:

  • Understanding of waste and recycling procedures, including hazardous waste handling

  • Familiarity with international regulations like MARPOL, SOLAS, and company safety policies (preferred)

  • English proficiency at A2 level or higher (CEFR scale)

  • Attention to detail and ability to follow strict environmental and safety protocols

  • Physically fit and capable of performing manual labor in a shipboard environment

  • Prior shipboard experience in environmental or deck departments is a plus
