Job Description:
The Provision Utility onbaord the cruise ship will play a vital role in supporting the efficient operation of the ship's provisioning department by assisting with the receipt, storage, inventory management, and distribution of food, beverages, and other supplies. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the receipt and inspection of deliveries from vendors to ensure accuracy and quality standards are met.
- Safely transport provisions from storage areas to designated onboard locations using appropriate equipment and following established procedures.
- Maintain accurate inventory records of all provisions, including food, beverages, cleaning supplies, and guest amenities.
- Monitor stock levels and communicate replenishment needs to the provisioning manager in a timely manner.
- Rotate stock and ensure that older items are used first to minimize waste and spoilage.
- Follow proper procedures for the storage, handling, and disposal of perishable and non-perishable items in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Assist with the organization and cleanliness of storage areas, including refrigerators, freezers, dry storage, and loading docks.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as culinary, housekeeping, and dining services, to coordinate provision deliveries and fulfill operational requirements.
- Participate in regular inventory audits and stocktaking activities to reconcile discrepancies and maintain accurate records.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures related to food safety, sanitation, and hygiene practices.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in the hospitality industry.
- Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation procedures.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Willingness to work in a maritime environment and on a rotating schedule
- Physical fitness and the ability to lift and carry heavy items, including boxes and crates, as required.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation principles.
- Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
- Familiarity with inventory management software or systems is desirable but not essential.
