Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations of the medical department onboard cruise ships
- Supervise and provide guidance to a team of nurses
- Ensure that all medical equipment and supplies are properly maintained and stocked
- Collaborate with the ship's doctor and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality medical care to crew members
- Conduct routine health screenings and assessments for crew members
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the ship's doctor
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for all crew members
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide immediate care as needed
- Educate crew members on health and safety practices while on board
- Coordinate with onshore medical facilities for any necessary follow-up care or treatments
- Stay updated on industry standards and best practices in healthcare for cruise ship employees
Requirements:
- Current nursing license in good standing
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, preferably in a leadership role
- Experience working in a maritime or cruise ship setting is highly desirable
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of medical equipment and procedures commonly used on cruise ships
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to travel and work on board cruise ships for extended periods of time
